Colliery bands will make a special appearance at our Première

Spennymoor and Ferryhill colliery bands will make a special appearance at our Première on 1st July 2017, entertaining the audience with a range of classic tunes as they arrive at the Tribune to take their seats for the opening performance.

The bands have already joined forces with us to make a special recording of the commemorative tune ‘Gresford’, also known as ‘The Miners’ Hymn’, captured in the magnificent surroundings of Durham Cathedral. The recording provides a poignant addition to the soundtrack which has been re-worked and enhanced for the 2017 show.

Anne-Isabelle Daulon, Chief Executive of Eleven Arches said: “We are delighted that both colliery bands will help us welcome our audience at the Première of our second season. The addition of evocative live music from two of the North East’s best community brass bands will not only help us to celebrate our opening night but will truly cement Kynren as a celebration of the spirit of the North East, whilst adding another exclusive treat to mark the beginning of a magical second season.”

To ensure the new season starts with a bang, we’ve planned extra firework features as well as a free goodie bag for The Première to help the audience get immersed in the carnival atmosphere of the show.
